We are pleased to announce that Fibonatix has transitioned all 3D Secure transactions processed through our gateway to use the latest version of the 3D Secure V2 authentication protocol.
3D Secure V2 is an evolution of the older 3DS protocol which was introduced by the card schemes in the early 2000’s and is designed to address the issues customers faced with 3DS V1 and to enable them to authenticate their identity without disturbing their user experience within the merchant’s website, and by that providing a seamless checkout process.
The main difference between 3DS V2 to its predecessor is the introduction of more frictionless authentication and a better user experience across devices.
How does it work?
3D Secure V2 analyses over 100 key data points, including the merchant’s contextual data, acting as an advanced layer of fraud protection. The issuer’s 3D Secure service provider assesses the transaction risk. If the transaction is determined as high-risk, the transaction goes through cardholder identity verification using biometrics, and/ or two-factor authentication.
